“Volunteering has a long and proud history in Halifax and across Nova Scotia. During happy times and hard times our citizens have always given of themselves without question. During the Second World War women made a significant and essential contribution to the war effort at home and in service to their community. This monument is fitting way to mark and honour their efforts and tell this important chapter of our history.”
